ABSTRACT

Various methods have been developed to estimate quality factor. In this study quality factor was estimated by Amplitude decay method using best trend of downgoing waves for carbonates. This factor useful for seismic processing, seismic interpretation such as improving resolution, amplitude analysis and true amplitude recovery. Here we used best trend of downgoing waves to improve estimation quality factor by amplitude decay method. MATLAB software was used. Finally raw VSP data has results higher than results from processed data without true amplitude recovery. In raw VSP data Noise affects traces and attenuation don’t show perfectly so maybe for this effect Q factor is higher.
